So Loved

carpenter

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

—John 3:16

The grafting of humanity into
divinity, this compatibility not
a sure thing as nothing like this
had ever been risked before.
The goal was union, taking every
last bit of the universe and
saying it out loud with kindness.
In this new beginning grew the
wild ceaseless beauty known as
the Word whose claws were sunk
deep into the world, not letting go,
not a chance. For God so loved.

In Mosul, ISIS militants marked with a spray-painted ن (the Arabic letter for “N”) all Christian property to be seized after the ultimatum. “N”, or ن, is the first letter of the Arabic word for Christian, “Nasrani” or Nazarene. #pray4thepersecuted
