A place of writing and reflection…

Mare of Dr. King

Today’s post comes from my young friend Dori and her view as a young woman in the midst of the racial divide we see so heavily painted in bold, inaccurate strokes by our media, and political leaders.

Dori writes:

Now a days all u ever here is drama on the news. The number one thing that bothers me is the whole” black lives matter” . It just makes us blacks seem ignorant. Makes us seem helpless in a way. Well I hope this poem I wrote 2 months ago helps clear up some damage. Not every black person is ignorant, mistempered, or hates whites.

Mare of Dr.King

Can you see the mare of Dr.King?

Or the anthem his children now sing?

Can you taste the gist of its diet?

Monkey blood and sporting pig riot?

Where serving and protecting is shunned?

And offense rise from those justly gunned?

And character is no longer condoned,

Its all about a skin too toned. Allied with Panthers but never can you?!

All lives matter political taboo.

Sure we revered King.

But deified Malcolm and his sting.

Stinging us with hatred and venom

For every white man before we even know them.

Black lives matter

Another reason for batter

Hands up don’t shoot

Another reason to loot

Wake up Dr. King!

Take a look at your dream!

What was fought fifty years prior,

Ignorance has destroyed with fire.

In Mosul, ISIS militants marked with a spray-painted ن (the Arabic letter for “N”) all Christian property to be seized after the ultimatum. “N”, or ن, is the first letter of the Arabic word for Christian, “Nasrani” or Nazarene. #pray4thepersecuted
